D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG Helmeted, diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Valentinian II to right, holding spear in his right hand and shield in his left. Rev. GLORIA ROMANORVM / (wreath) / ANTE Valentinian II standing front on galley sailing left, head to right, raising his right hand in salute; behind, Victory seated left, steering galley. RIC 40b. Well struck and with a particularly attractive rendering of the galley. Extremely fine.
